SERVICES

Gas/Electric
Read the meters and advise your suppliers of the readings and your new address. Arrange for the Gas Board or a Corgi registered engineer to disconnect any appliances you intend to remove.

Water
Contact your local water authority and advise them of your moving/completion date because you are responsible until that time. If you have paid in advance you are entitled to a refund.

If you are purchasing a vacant property check that the water is turned on, otherwise you will need to contact the water authority in order to re-connect but remember to give them 2 or 3 working days notice.
Telephone
Advise your supplier of your new address giving them at least 7 days notice, particularly if you wish to retain your telephone number in the same area.
Council Tax
Notify your local authority of the moving/completion date, advising them as to your new address in order to receive reimbursement for any council tax which you have paid in advance.
Post
Collect a re-direction notice from your local post office and advise them as to your new address at least 14 days prior to moving.

Send them all your new address.
If you are moving to another area you may wish to transfer your account to a more local branch.

Standing orders/Direct debits
Advise your change of address to all of the companies with whom you have a standing order or direct debit arrangements.
Credit cards
At the time you pay your last bill before moving remember to fill in the change of address section on the back of the payment slip.
Shares
Advise the registrar for any companies in which you hold shares. The registrar's address will be on the share certificate/dividend voucher.

House contents
Check with your removal firm as to the extent of their cover during the move and also with your present house contents policy. If you are moving without a removal firm then you may find your contents are uninsured whilst in transit.

Please remember to tell your insurance company or financial advisor that you are moving and give them your new address. The premium for your contents may well vary when you move, depending upon location.
Buildings
Your new house becomes your risk as soon as contracts have been exchanged so notify your insurer or advisor in good time when you know this date in order to avoid being uninsured.
Car
Remember to tell your insurer or broker before you move, preferably in writing, otherwise you may well find that your insurance is not valid. The premium may well vary according to the location of your new home.
Insurance Policies generally
Remember to forward your new address to each insurance company with whom you have a policy, e.g. life, pension, permanent health policies, etc. When writing to the company please remember your policy number.

Driving
If you have a paper licence complete the change of address section at the back of the licence, obtain a form D1 from the post office and forward to DVLA Swansea SA99 1AB, together with proof of your identity and a passport size photograph, after which you will be issued with a new photo card driving licence.
Vehicle registration
Complete the appropriate section on your vehicle registration document and forward it to DVLA Swansea SA99 1AB.
TV Licence
To amend your details telephone the TV Licensing authority on 08705 246246 or obtain form TVL101 from any post office, complete and forward to TV Licensing, Bristol BS98 1TL.
